The brief

Planning & Design first asked us to look at their website in 2018. The audit found quick wins: no secure connection, page titles that hadn’t been optimised, and a Class Q page that was quietly getting more visits than the homepage.

The 2019 site fixed those. By 2025 the practice had outgrown it, and the brief for the rebuild was clear.

  • Look as considered as the practice’s own work, with project photography first
  • Help homeowners and developers each find what’s relevant to them
  • Let the team publish projects, news, campaign pages and local pages themselves
  • Stand up well in search, including AI-driven search
  • Load quickly, and stay secure and easy to maintain
02

A page builder the team can use

Campaign and advice pages are built from ten optional sections. Each one has an on/off switch: flip it, fill in the fields that appear, and the page lays itself out in the house style.

We wrote help notes for all 121 fields. An admin help assistant that answers the team’s questions from the same guide is being built.

03

Projects that do the selling

Projects are added through a simple form, then appear automatically on the matching service pages. Visitors filter them by service and by type of client, from homeowners to developers.

Local pages, written for each place

Derbyshire is not one planning authority, it is eight, plus a national park.

From the Derbyshire area page

Rather than swapping town names into a template, each area page covers the local constraints, the councils involved, checked facts, the nearest office and the practice’s own projects nearby. Sections with nothing local to show simply don’t appear.

The Derbyshire round alone is 15 pages: a county hub, eight service pages and six towns. Sheffield has its own set. It’s the approach that has worked for Impact Physio’s area pages.

After launch: a steady flow of news

Each month, planning decisions arrive as PDFs and go out as a news article, social posts and a newsletter paragraph, checked for privacy before anything is published. About 20 went out in the first half of 2026.

Results, honestly

The new site and its area pages are recent, so there aren’t fair before-and-after figures yet, and this page won’t invent any. What has changed already: the team publishes projects, news and campaign pages without waiting for a developer, and every page is quick, consistent and built for search.

Figures will be added here once there’s a fair comparison.
